When To Visit
The best time to visit South Florida (Miami/ Fort Lauderdale) is after hurricane season if you want to enjoy the beach. Think more like mid-November-June. Florida’s “winter months” are January – March, but it’s still hot enough to escape the cold.
January through March tend to be a bit busier as people are heading to South Florida to get away from actual winter weather and go on vacation since many kids in school have a few winter breaks. So if you are planning to visit Miami and South Florida during those months, expect to pay a bit more to travel.
Should you decide to travel during hurricane season (June-November), I highly encourage you to purchase travel insurance.
Best Ways To Get To South Florida
South Florida has two major airports in this region, Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). They are both bustling airports.
Miami International Airport is closer to the city, but you may strike a better deal flying into Fort Lauderdale depending on your travel date. The best way to find the best deal is to set an alert on Google Flights.
