Where to Stay in Pompano Beach, Florida: My Stay at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort
Planning a South Florida beach vacation? While many travelers immediately think of Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Florida is one destination that deserves a spot on your list.
Located along Florida’s beautiful Gold Coast, Pompano Beach offers wide sandy beaches, a more relaxed atmosphere, and easy access to both Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach, making it the perfect home base for a weekend getaway or longer coastal escape. Whether you’re flying into Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) or Miami International Airport (MIA), you’ll find the drive to Pompano Beach quick and convenient, making it one of the easiest beach destinations to reach in South Florida.
During my stay, I checked into the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort, an oceanfront resort that recently completed a full renovation. From beautifully updated guestrooms and refreshed dining spaces to an inviting pool overlooking the Atlantic, the property blends modern coastal style with everything you’d want from a Florida beach vacation. After spending a few days here, I completely understood why the location is one of the hotel’s biggest highlights.

Why I Chose Pompano Beach
One of my favorite things about traveling around Florida is discovering destinations that feel a little less crowded while still offering everything you’d expect from a beach vacation. That’s exactly how I would describe Pompano Beach.
It has beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, a walkable waterfront, and a slower pace than many of South Florida’s more well-known destinations. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a girls’ trip, or simply a relaxing weekend by the ocean, Pompano Beach has a little bit of everything. It’s also conveniently located just a short drive from Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, making it an easy destination whether you’re flying in for a long weekend or extending a South Florida vacation.
My Stay in the Executive Oceanfront Suite
For this trip, I stayed in the Executive Suite Corner Room with Balcony, and it was honestly one of my favorite parts of the entire stay.
Because the suite is positioned on the corner of the building, the views feel even more expansive. Walking into the room, the first thing that caught my attention was the wall of windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Having a private balcony meant I could start each morning watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee and end the evening listening to the waves.
Inside, the suite felt bright, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The recent renovation really shines throughout the room with its clean coastal aesthetic, comfortable furnishings, marble bathroom, and modern finishes that make the space feel elevated without losing that relaxed beach vibe.
The separate living area with a sofa bed also makes this suite a great option for families or anyone who simply enjoys having a little extra room to spread out. If you’re considering upgrading your room, I genuinely think the oceanfront executive suite is worth it.

Resort Amenities That Made the Stay Even Better
One thing I appreciated throughout my stay was how easy it was to fully relax without ever feeling like I needed to leave the property. The newly renovated pool area is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with plenty of lounge chairs and beautiful views of the ocean. There’s also an oceanfront fitness center for anyone wanting to keep up with their workout routine, while the beach is literally just steps away whenever you’re ready for a walk along the shoreline or a day in the sun.
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, the area also offers water activities including paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, and other watersports, making it easy to experience the Atlantic beyond simply relaxing on the beach.
Dining at the Resort
One thing I always appreciate when staying at a resort is having great dining options without needing to get back in the car. The Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort offers several on-site dining experiences that make grabbing breakfast before the beach or enjoying dinner after sunset incredibly convenient. The newly redesigned restaurant creates a bright, coastal atmosphere that fits perfectly with the rest of the property. If you’d like to see all of the resort’s dining options before your stay, you can explore the restaurants and dining experiences HERE.
Of course, one of the perks of staying in Pompano Beach is that you’re also just minutes away from some fantastic local seafood restaurants and waterfront dining throughout the area. Check out my Weekend in Pompano Beach post.
Exploring Pompano Beach
While I absolutely loved the resort, don’t make the mistake of staying on property your entire trip. Pompano Beach has a charming waterfront that’s perfect for an evening stroll, and the iconic fishing pier offers beautiful views of the coastline. You’ll also find plenty of local restaurants, coffee shops, and boutique spots nearby.
If you’re looking to explore even more, both Lauderdale by the Sea and Fort Lauderdale are just a short drive away, making it easy to experience multiple South Florida destinations during one trip.
Would I Stay Here Again?
Absolutely. What stood out to me most wasn’t just the beautiful suite or the updated amenities. It was how relaxing the entire destination felt. Sometimes the best vacations aren’t about packing every hour with activities. They’re about slowing down, enjoying the ocean, sleeping with the balcony door cracked open, and remembering what it feels like to truly disconnect for a few days. The Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort delivered exactly that experience.
