Cloudland at McLemore Resort Review: One of North Georgia’s Most Beautiful Mountain Getaways
Some places make an immediate impression, and Cloudland at McLemore is one of those special spots. On my second visit, the experience was even better than before.
Cloudland at McLemore offers a mix of luxury, relaxation, great food, golf, wellness, and beautiful mountain views. It’s a great choice for couples, families, solo travelers, or golf trips. After visiting twice, this has become one of my favorite luxury mountain getaways that’s easy to reach from Atlanta.
Location
Cloudland at McLemore is easy to get to, but it still feels like a real escape. It sits atop Lookout Mountain, not far from Atlanta and Chattanooga.
It takes about two hours to drive from Atlanta and less than an hour from Chattanooga. The resort is close enough for a simple road trip, but far enough to help you really unwind.
The mountain views are stunning. Wide-open landscapes, quiet surroundings, and many peaceful spots make it easy to take everything in. Sunrises and sunsets here feel truly special.
Rooms & Suites
This time, we had a lovely Two Queen Mountain View room. Waking up to those mountain views each morning was always a treat. The rooms feel stylish and welcoming, with large windows that showcase the mountains. The design is simple but luxurious, and everything is set up to help you relax right away.

Food & Drinks
The food at Cloudland at McLemore truly stood out. Each restaurant and dining experience across the resort felt purposeful, refined, and carefully curated, all while preserving the inviting mountain retreat ambiance.

Auld Alliance
The venue feels sophisticated yet comfortable, making it perfect for both intimate date nights and relaxed family dinners. The new menu highlights Scottish-French cuisine with elevated seasonal dishes, fresh ingredients, thoughtfully prepared entrées, and handcrafted cocktails that perfectly complement the mountain setting.
What I loved most about Auld Alliance was how it felt like a true dining experience rather than simply a resort restaurant. Between the attentive service, beautiful mountain views, warm ambiance, and carefully curated menu, dinner here easily became one of the highlights of each evening during our stay at Cloudland at McLemore.
You can explore dining options here.
Croft
Croft was our favorite for all meals. The relaxed atmosphere made it ideal for easing into the morning before exploring. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings were excellent.
The Pocket Café
The Pocket Café made grabbing coffee, snacks, or lighter bites easy and accessible without leaving the resort. Cloudland balances upscale dining with casual options well. Grab-and-go made the stay more relaxing, especially during pool or golf days.
Skyside
Skyside, the resort’s poolside lounge, quickly became a favorite. With expansive cliffside views, a tranquil infinity-pool setting, expertly crafted cocktails, and casual yet appealing dishes, it was the ideal place for afternoon relaxation.
The open-air setting makes the entire experience feel incredibly peaceful and elevated while still being laid-back and approachable. Whether grabbing a cocktail after golf, relaxing poolside, or watching the sunset over the mountains, Skyside added so much to the overall resort experience.
From breakfast to dinner and drinks, every meal at the resort was excellent. This is the kind of place where you really look forward to eating each day.
Golf Experience
Golf at Cloudland at McLemore is a highlight. Even if you don’t play, you can still enjoy the beautiful courses and amazing views.
The resort has one of the most scenic golf courses in the Southeast, with dramatic cliffside views of McLemore Cove that make the experience special. With the mountain setting, well-kept greens, and calm atmosphere, it’s clear why golfers come from all over. We spent some time at the driving range, which has one of the best views I’ve ever seen at a practice spot. Just hitting balls while looking out at the mountains was relaxing and fun.
The six-hole short course is perfect for families, beginners, casual players, and anyone looking for a laid-back golf experience. Experienced golfers will enjoy the championship courses, which use the mountain landscape, elevation changes, scenic overlooks, and creative design. Whether you’re planning a golf trip, traveling with a golf fan, or just want to enjoy the scenery, the golf at Cloudland really adds to your stay.

Amenities & Spa
The pool area was another favorite. It felt calm and welcoming, with mountain views all around. It was the perfect place to relax in the afternoon. All the resort’s amenities help create a true mountain retreat feeling across the property.
The spa was a highlight during my first visit to Cloudland. I didn’t get to try it this time, but I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a wellness getaway.
If you want your trip to be extra special, be sure to include the spa in your plans. Spa details can be found here
Final Thoughts
What really sets Cloudland at McLemore apart is the hospitality. The staff is friendly, the food is excellent, and the views are unforgettable. The whole place makes you want to slow down and enjoy every moment.
Cloudland at McLemore is refined but never stiff, accommodating families yet still romantic, and always relaxing with plenty of activities. After two visits, Cloudland at McLemore is now my favorite mountain resort in Georgia. I enjoyed it so much that we already have a few reservation books throughout the year!
