Have you ever wondered how celebrities and influencers have smooth and flawless skin even without the filters? While they might splurge on their skincare products (I’m guilty of this), that is not the only thing that is giving them flawless skin. The secret is botox. Yes, botox is well known to get rid of wrinkles but did you know there were more benefits? Keep reading because I am sharing a beauty industry secret that no one talks about.
What is Botox?
Botox is called Botulinum Toxin Type A. Botox is a neurotoxin. When injected, it reduces muscle movement and helps reduce the presence of wrinkles.
What are the benefits of Botox?
- Botox helps hinder oil production so, if you get Botox on your face, this will help reduce breakouts.
- Lift your lips. If you are not ready to take a leap and get lip filler, try a lip flip. Your injector adds a tiny amount of botox to the upper lip and, this will flip the lip giving the appearance of a fuller lip.
- Reduces sweating: Underarm sweat stains can be very embarrassing for people that’s why many people get botox injected into their underarms to prevent sweating. Did you know: Doctors use Botox to treat hyperhidrosis (medically diagnosed excessive sweating)
- Long-lasting blowouts. Yes! Again, Botox helps so much with sweating. People who sweat at the hairline get botox to reduce sweat. This allows their blowouts to last longer and fewer visits to the salon. This is a beauty industry secret that no one talks about?
I am no stranger to wrinkle relaxers. I started getting Dysport a little over a year ago and, I love how it relaxes my muscles and the overall smoothness of my face. This time around, I had the opportunity to work with a Health and Beauty Boutique in Atlanta, GA. They are a medical spa that offers facial fillers, injectables, laser, and all of your skincare needs. The spa itself is aesthetically pleasing. I mean, it is the perfect place to host a spa day with your girls.
For my treatment at Health and Beauty Boutique, I received a Botox treatment. In the past, I always did Dysport. Dysport and Botox serve the same purpose. They are just two different brands from different manufacturers. In a few months, I will compare both Dysport and Botox and share which one I prefer. When I went in for my treatment, I met with nurse Leslie Brothers, founder of Health and Beauty Boutique. Leslie is a sweetheart. She answered all of my questions and then mapped out where I would be getting my treatment. I have never been a fan of my “angry lines”, you know, the lines in between your eyebrows and, I started to notice more lines around my eye also, known as crow’s feet.
My goal was to diminish the appearance of my wrinkles while still having a natural look. When I shared my day on my Instagram stories, my DM’s were flooded with the same question “does it hurt?” the answer is NO! It does not hurt at all. It’s a tiny prick and, before you even realize it, your entire procedure is over. Speaking of, Botox treatments take less than 15 minutes. Another big question was “how long does it”.
How Long Does It Last:
I will update this section in a couple of weeks. Botox is said to last about four months. I can tell you that my Dysport lasted about six months for me. I will know if Botox lasts just as long for me. However, the more that you go, the less you will need because, in theory, you are training your muscles. Muscle memory is real! In time your muscles will get used to Botox and, you will eventually not have to go as often. Keep in mind, you will not see your results immediately. It takes about 7-14 days to see the full effect of Botox.
How much does a treatment cost?
Each treatment depends on the number of units a person needs in a specific area. You pay per unit. Everyone needs a different amount of units. Your provider will go through all of this at the time of your appointment or when you book a consultation. However, right now, Health and Beauty Boutique is offering $100 off your first treatment which, is such a steal! They also offer membership pricing which lowers the cost per botox unit. You can view more about it.
It is worth it?
In my opinion, yes. Aside from getting rid of my wrinkles, I notice a major difference in my skin. Botox tightens your pores and gives you a super fresh and smooth face. I always suggest that if you are considering Botox in the future, start with preventative botox or “baby botox” and in due time, you will not need as much.
I am so happy that I found Health and Beauty Boutique and Nurse Leslie. She is amazing at what she does and made me feel super comfortable especially since it was my first time getting treatment around my eyes. This medical spa/boutique is highly recommended in my books.
